So after what has proven to be a challenging year in more ways than one, it seems like a good idea to focus on the good news, and there is lots. Most recently my publisher has produced an updated front cover for Return of the Mantra, ready for reprint, to include the series titles – Blood Gift Chronicles Book One.
AND we’re ready to go with international distribution!! Click here
AND we made it into the current issue of Mslexia magazine. I love the advert and think I’m in good company with other Stairwell offerings.
The edits for Book Two, The Warder, are well underway, and I am excited at the prospect of its release into the world next year. More to follow. As well as being knee deep in edits, I have been a diligent roadie of Return of the Mantra, recently attending a women’s festival in Weston-Super-Mare, where I gave my first public reading since my long stint in hospital.
As is often the case, I chose an extract just prior to Suni setting off for the mines, that last glimpse of innocence before she’s forced to face the full weight of the world. Fortunately, she is not alone. I’m enjoying working on book 2, revisiting my characters ten years on, seeing how the world has shaped them, and how they continue to shape the world.
And last but by no means least, I am delighted that Return of the Mantra has made it onto Day 20 Book Advent of Dan Stubbings, book reviewer, who said:
“One of my all time favourite fantasies. The story has everything. An evil dictator, LGBT relationships, and Wanda is one of the most emotional and best written characters I have every read.”
And that is all for now, except to wish you Happy Holidays, Happy Christmas, and a happy, healthy, peaceful New Year!
