About

Hi, and welcome to my blog site. I’m Susie Williamson, author of the award-winning fantasy fiction series, Blood Gift Chronicles, published by Stairwell Books. The series begins with Return of the Mantra and The Warder, and features themes of wildlife and the environment, social justice and marginalisation, magic, animism, dragons, and being true to oneself. The series is YA and appealing to a wide range of readers. Books one and two are part of a planned trilogy, and while each book can also work as a standalone, there is an overarching storyline that connects them. I am currently working on the third instalment.

Originally from Yorkshire, I started life as a science teacher, before venturing to Africa. I spent the year of 1999 teaching English as a Foreign Language in the Sudan. From there I moved to South Africa and spent several years teaching Adult Basic Education and Training, primarily in a rural township in Kwazulu Natal. I now live in Devon with my wife; and with my writing pal, Mia the cat, who has spent many nights watching the cursor move to and fro.

I am a member of Clockhouse London Writers and have poetry, short fiction, and articles published in a number of anthologies and podcasts, including Dreamcatcher magazine, Focus magazine, and The Other Stories. I’m a regular attendee and panelist at various science fiction and fantasy conventions around the UK, as well as international conventions online. I am also an artist, mostly landscape and abstract, a past-time that runs alongside writing.
