Hi, and welcome to my blog site. My name’s Susie Williamson and I’m a fantasy writer, author of ‘Return of the Mantra’. Originally from Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, I started out as a science teacher, until venturing out to Africa. I spent the year of 1999 in the Sudan, teaching English as a Foreign Language in universities in Omdurman and Khartoum, and at a children’s school. From there I moved to South Africa and spent several years teaching Adult Basic Education and Training, primarily in a township in Kwazulu Natal.

On returning to the UK, I moved to Devon, where my childhood passion for creative writing was reignited. Inspired by the landscapes of Africa, I began weaving the twists and turns of my first novel. I now live in Exeter with my partner, Kate, close to the river and a bike ride away from the sea. To accompany my writing I also paint, steadily filling the white-washed walls of home with African landscapes, intricate, hand-painted mosaics, among other things. My writing partner is my cat, Mia, who is finely tuned to the gentle swish of the computer turning on and the creak of the writing chair, and has spent many nights watching that cursor move to and fro. I am currently working on two fantasy novels, sequels to ‘Return of the Mantra’.
