Colours of Summer

Mid-summer in the UK and the recent heatwave has been hot hot hot, but work continues and book fairs bring a chance to meet new readers, and enjoy wonderful surprise encounters. I was lucky enough to share a morning coffee with Clem So, the actor from Star Wars, Mission Impossible, Bond films, etc… etc… Such an interesting career he has had. I was way too shy to ask for a selfie, but great conversation, including sharing thoughts on my own work, with the political messaging of characters working to overturn systems of oppression. If art can be a form of resistance, it can also be a form of creation, and among the colours of a fantasy backdrop that’s what I seek to do, work with characters who are creating the conditions for a world of equality and freedom, for the people, and for the natural world.

Meanwhile at home the flowers are growing, bringing much needed colour after the sad news of losing Tiggy, a twenty-year-old cat who sadly passed away. She arrived with us just ten months ago, and soon became accustomed to the life of a writer. Now she leaves a space that can’t be filled.

From a feline presence to birds, and the fledging sparrows are more confident than ever, heading close to the door, a reminder for more seed. While nearby on the river, cygnets are getting used to life, eagerly checking out passersby. It’s lovely to see so much wildlife.

A trip to the beach is always a refreshing sight, to clear the head, help turn the page, as I move between several projects. The edits of Blood Gift Chronicles Book 3 are in, time to pick up some poetry and art, before early drafting on the next novel.

More events news coming soon too. Poetry shares are regular, as are book fairs, but more is on the horizon.

Lastly, but by no means least, a special message to all those who celebrate, remember, campaign or dare to dream…

Wishing you a very

HAPPY PRIDE
